Pictogramas

DETALLES DEL PROYECTO

Pictogramas (Pictograms) is a participatory and sculptural installation, like a game board, that was made during a residence in Casa Wabi in Puerto Escondido, Mexico.

A pictogram is an iconic non-linguistic sign, whose meaning comes from the symbolic representation of a real object: the predecessor of the writing systems.

This board proposes the construction of semantic writings generating “pictograms” from the combination of particular objects (wood eroded by the sea, collected on the beach).

The game board offers participants the possibility to create their signs by combining, and then draw their contours on paper. Each player creates ludic codes with personal meanings, like an invented language.
