Manifestantes y obreras

DETALLES DEL PROYECTO

Manifestantes y Obreras (Protesters and workers) is a series of graphic works based on research on Soviet textiles in the ’20s and ’30s and the social role in art related to clothing and textile design, specifically, the work done by Varvara Stepanova, Nadezhda Lamanova, and Vera Lotonina.

This type of design thematic and propagandistic included the industrialization, the glorification of progress, and labor conditions in factories, in fields, and shipyards. The artistic impressions of these subjects were used as unusual propaganda instruments.

For this series, these representations were adapted to create graphics based on contemporary images of women workers in demonstrations and protests.
