Ríos antiguos, ríos entubados, ríos muertos

DETALLES DEL PROYECTO

Ríos antiguos, ríos entubados, ríos muertos (Ancient rivers, piped rivers, dead rivers) is a sound installation that is part of a series of works on dead rivers, in a code of hydrographic representation of the riverbed  that becomes a code of audio production, using the mechanism of “musical box.”

This piece takes up the route of the rivers that crossed the territory occupied by Mexico City, and consists of 21 musical boxes whose cylinder is built with protuberances that “translate” the hydrographic trace of each river to a musical “composition.”

Each sound mechanism is placed inside a resonance box that includes a representation of that trace in the form of a groove that modifies the acoustic qualities of the object.
