DETALLES DEL PROYECTO

Dances of the Earth, has its origin in the Dance of the Negritos, a dance of Totonac origin that is danced in the mountainous area of the states of Veracruz, Puebla and Hidalgo in Mexico, as well as in several Latin American countries.

This reinterpretation of the original dance places the emphasis on line dance moves on the floor. The dancers embroider with their steps, filigree tapping, twists and turns, which leave a trail in the piece that evokes dance notations, another of my interests. The piece is a translation of movements and steps in lines and circles that highlight the link that this and many of the so-called colonial dances have with rites related to agriculture.
