DETALLES DEL PROYECTO

Installation based on a suspended structure of bamboo and fiber, made with traditional Kogui architectural construction methods, which represents the conception of the cosmic structure for this ethnic group.

The universe of the Kogui people, who live in the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta in Colombia, comprises a series of symmetrically established worlds, represented with five rings on the surface and five underground. The upper part corresponds to the illuminated, visible and beneficial, and the lower part represents the counterpart. In this installation, this counterpart is recreated with a low-frequency sound composition that comes to be a translation of the numerical values of the construction, to make perceptible, through tactile sound, the five rings of the inverted architectural cone.

The representation of the maloca, out of its context, uncovered to its bare skeleton, reveals a highly sophisticated system of thought that is about to disappear.

Apparently simple, its complexity lies in the symbolic value of each of the construction elements. The piece was installed suspended, as if it were permanently levitating.

In collaboration with the Mamo (spiritual chief) Senchina, from the Kogui culture and Nueve Voltios.
