DETALLES DEL PROYECTO

This installation is inspired by the Vaimanika Shastra (treatise on aeronautics), a pseudo-technological text written in Sanskrit at the beginning of the 20th century. This text mixes mysticism with a description of aeronautical technology. In the book, the Vimana is described as an advanced flying vehicle.

Based on this reference, an investigation was carried out on the concept of the Vimanas during a workshop organized by Srishti Institute of Art, Design & Technology in Bangalore, India, in which a group of students participated.

As a result, the piece took the form of a suspended temple, built of bamboo, coconut fibers, and paper by local artisans. This installation was part of the exhibition Srishti Outpost, within the collateral program of the Kochi-Muziris Biennale 2016.
