Project Details

Río rebelde (Rebel river) is a wall installation that resignifies a musical notation code to exploit its possible discursive connotations. Through circular black and white paintings framed in embroidery rings and lines drawn directly on the wall, the piece conjugates a reference to graphics and craftsmanship and at the same time replicates on a larger scale the “score” of a popular song coded for an artisan zither of 15 strings. These references emphasize the relationships between the design of this instrument and its score with other visual codes of a cartographic nature. There are four other songs about rivers, from different Latinamerican latitudes, which are part of these series.
